Quarter endedMar 29, 2025

AMD reported revenue of $7.44 billion for the quarter that ended Mar 29, 2025, up 36% from the same quarter a year earlier. The figures come from its 10-Q, the quarterly report a listed US company files with the Securities and Exchange Commission, filed on May 7, 2025. Operating income, the profit from running the business before interest and tax, was $806 million, against $36 million a year earlier. Net income was $709 million, against $123 million.123456789

Gaming revenue was $647 million, down 30% from $922 million in the same quarter a year earlier. AMD said the fall was primarily due to a decrease in semi-custom revenue. AMD reported Gaming inside a combined Client and Gaming segment, formed from fiscal 2025, and still disclosed revenue for each business. Client revenue was $2.29 billion, up 68%, and AMD said that was primarily driven by a 43% increase in average selling price and a 23% increase in unit shipments of Ryzen mobile and desktop processors. Data Center revenue was $3.67 billion, up 57%, which AMD attributed primarily to growth in EPYC CPU and Instinct GPU sales. The company’s earnings release of May 6 listed new Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 graphics cards among its highlights.1011121314151617181920212223

On Mar 31, 2025, after the quarter ended, AMD completed its acquisition of ZT Systems, which it said would help accelerate the design and deployment of AMD-powered AI infrastructure for the cloud. At the close it paid $3.375 billion in cash, subject to price adjustments, and issued 8,335,849 shares of its common stock. The 10-Q also said that on Apr 15, 2025 AMD had completed its initial assessment of a new US government license requirement for exports of certain semiconductor products to China and some other countries, which applied to its MI308 products. AMD said it expected the requirement might result in charges of approximately $800 million in inventory and related reserves.2425326272829

In its earnings release AMD also gave non-GAAP measures, figures outside US accounting rules that it defines itself and that leave out items such as stock-based compensation and the amortization of acquisition-related intangibles. On that basis net income was $1.6 billion, or $0.96 a diluted share: AMD’s own measure, not the net income reported above.3031

In the text of the filing that we hold, the 10-Q does not name the products or customers behind semi-custom revenue. Our records keep one value for each period of an SEC filer, so they cannot tell whether the year-earlier figures were restated; the filing said prior-period segment data were retrospectively adjusted.323334
