Intel's first-quarter operating loss widened to $3.14 billion as revenue rose to $13.58 billion

Intel reported a net loss of $3.73 billion attributable to its shareholders, after $4.07 billion of restructuring and other charges that its earnings release said primarily included a goodwill impairment at its Mobileye unit.

Revenue$13.58 billion
Operating income−$3.14 billion
Net income attributable to shareholders−$3.73 billion
Quarter endedMar 28, 2026

Intel filed its 10-Q, the quarterly report US-listed companies send to the Securities and Exchange Commission, on Apr 24, 2026, for the quarter that ended Mar 28. Revenue was $13.58 billion, up 7.2% from $12.67 billion in the same quarter a year earlier. The operating loss, the result of running the business before interest and tax, was $3.14 billion, against a loss of $301 million a year earlier. The net loss attributable to Intel's shareholders was $3.73 billion, or $0.73 a share on a diluted basis, against a loss of $821 million and $0.19 a share a year earlier. Including the share that belongs to non-controlling interests, the other owners of subsidiaries Intel does not wholly own, the net loss was $4.28 billion.12345678910111213

Restructuring and other charges were $4.07 billion in the quarter, against $156 million a year earlier. In its earnings release of Apr 23, 2026, Intel said the quarter's restructuring and other charges primarily included charges for the impairment of goodwill, a write-down of what it paid in past acquisitions above the value of their assets, at its Mobileye reporting unit. The filing's own figures record a goodwill impairment of $3.9 billion for the quarter. The release's reconciliation also showed a $1.09 billion loss from marking Escrowed Shares to market; the release defined them as shares of Intel stock held in escrow to be released to the U.S. Department of Commerce as Intel performed and received cash proceeds under its CHIPS Act Secure Enclave agreement.141516171819

Intel's own non-GAAP measure of net income attributable to Intel, a different basis from the GAAP loss above, was a profit of $1.49 billion. Among the items Intel left out of its non-GAAP measures were restructuring and other charges, which the company said did not reflect its core operating performance.2021

Client Computing revenue was $7.73 billion, up 1.3%; Datacenter and AI was $5.05 billion, up 22.4%; and Intel Foundry was $5.42 billion, up 16.2%. These segment figures included sales between Intel's own units, which the company's total revenue left out, so they did not add up to that total. Among its first-quarter highlights, the release listed launches of Core Ultra processors for desktop and mobile. Comparisons with a year earlier were affected by Altera, which Intel deconsolidated, dropping it from its consolidated accounts, effective Sep 12, 2025 after selling 51% of Altera's common stock.222324252627282930

For the year ended Dec 27, 2025, Intel's 10-K reported revenue of $52.85 billion and an operating loss of $2.21 billion. In the release, Intel forecast second-quarter 2026 revenue of $13.8 billion to $14.8 billion. A later 10-Q reported revenue of $16.13 billion for the quarter ended Jun 27, 2026, above the top of that range.31323334
