Sony's sales rose to ¥2.84 trillion in April-June 2026, with operating income of ¥476.5 billion
Net income attributable to stockholders was ¥342.2 billion and the Game & Network Services segment earned ¥202.0 billion in operating income, in a report filed Jul 31, 2026.
On Jul 31, 2026, Sony Group filed a Form 6-K, the report a foreign company sends the SEC to pass on results and news it has published at home, with its financial summary for the three months ended Jun 30, 2026, prepared under IFRS Accounting Standards. Sales rose to ¥2.84 trillion from ¥2.62 trillion a year earlier, and operating income to ¥476.5 billion from ¥340.0 billion. Net income attributable to Sony Group's stockholders was ¥342.2 billion, against ¥259.0 billion from continuing operations a year earlier. That earlier figure leaves out the Financial Services business, which Sony presented separately as a discontinued operation; effective Oct 1, 2025, Sony partly spun off Sony Financial Group Inc., a formerly wholly owned subsidiary that operates that business.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
In Game & Network Services, the segment Sony described as covering digital software and add-on content, network services and home gaming products, operating income rose to ¥202.0 billion from ¥148.0 billion. Its sales to customers were ¥915.8 billion, against ¥912.8 billion; counting sales to Sony's other segments, the segment's total was ¥937.1 billion, against ¥936.5 billion. By product, sales to customers of digital software and add-on content were ¥485.2 billion, down from ¥492.1 billion, and sales of hardware and others were ¥222.0 billion, down from ¥248.0 billion, while network services rose to ¥208.6 billion from ¥172.6 billion.10,11,12,13
For the year ending Mar 31, 2027, Sony forecast sales of ¥12.5 trillion and operating income of ¥1.72 trillion, and the filing marked that forecast as revised from the one it had last announced. The forecast left out the effect of the Kumamoto earthquake of Jul 28, 2026, which Sony said was difficult to estimate. After the quarter, on Jul 15, 2026, a Sony subsidiary in the Music segment bought all the equity interests in a company that owns music assets and other assets, paying about 260 billion yen in cash (about 1.6 billion U.S. dollars), subject to working capital and other adjustments. When it consolidated that company, Sony recognized about 550 billion yen of content assets, which are music catalogs, and about 310 billion yen of long-term debt.14,15,16,17,18,19,20
The statements are unaudited, and Sony marked them as not reviewed by an audit firm. For the overview of the results, the filing points readers to Sony's earnings presentation, disclosed the same day.21,22,23
