Sony Group reported results for the three months ended Sep 30, 2026, which it calls Q2 FY2026, in a Form 6-K, the form a foreign company files to report news to US regulators, dated Nov 5, 2026. Sales were 3,429.4 bln yen against 3,107.9 bln yen a year earlier, up 10%, and Sony said sales rose approximately 4% on a constant currency basis. Operating income, what is left after the costs of running the business, was 622.3 bln yen against 429.0 bln yen, up 45%. Net income attributable to Sony's stockholders was 449.6 bln yen, up 44% on 311.4 bln yen, a year-earlier figure that Sony says is for continuing operations.12345678

The Game & Network Services segment, Sony's games unit, had sales of 1,208.5 bln yen against 1,113.2 bln yen and operating income of 220.1 bln yen against 120.4 bln yen. Sony put the sales rise at 95.3 bln yen, or 9%, of which 73.0 bln yen was the effect of foreign exchange rates. It listed higher sales from network services and from first-party and non-first-party game software as contributing, and lower hardware sales on fewer units sold. Operating income rose 99.7 bln yen, or 83%, which Sony tied in part to the absence of items recorded in the year-earlier quarter: impairment losses against a portion of Bungie's intangible and other assets (31.5 bln yen) and expenses from a correction in the amount of certain previously capitalized development costs (18.3 bln yen).91011121314151617

Sony raised its full-year forecast from its July forecast: sales by 500 bln yen, or 4%, and operating income by 150 bln yen, or 9%. For the games unit it raised the sales forecast by 290 bln yen, or 6%, which it ties to higher sales of non-first-party game software. It also raised the unit's operating income forecast by 40 bln yen, or 6%, and listed among the factors working against that revision a decrease in sales of first-party game software, mainly due to a change in a title release date. Elsewhere, Sony's Pictures segment sales rose 167.7 bln yen, or 48%, with the company citing the theatrical contribution of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.1819202122232425
