Revenue$1.04 billion
Operating income−$255 million
Net income attributable to shareholders−$215 million
Quarter endedMar 31, 2025

Roblox reported revenue of $1.04 billion for the quarter from Jan 1 to Mar 31, 2025, up 29.2% on the $801.3 million of the same quarter a year earlier, in a Form 10-Q (the quarterly report a US-listed company files with the SEC) filed on May 1, 2025. It had an operating loss (the loss from running the business before interest and tax) of $255 million, against $302.33 million a year earlier. The net loss attributable to its common stockholders was $215 million, or $0.32 a share, against $270.6 million, or $0.43 a share. Including the share of its China joint venture that belongs to a minority investor (the non-controlling interest), the consolidated net loss was $216 million, against $271.92 million. That investor, Songhua River Investment Limited, was an affiliate of Tencent Holdings and held 49% of the venture.12345678910111213141516

Bookings, a non-GAAP measure of the sales activity in a period, were $1,206.7 million, up 31%. Roblox recorded bookings as deferred revenue first and recognized them as revenue over the estimated period the virtual items were available on the platform.171819

Average daily active users (accounts that logged in and visited Roblox on a given day) were 97.8 million, up 26%, and hours engaged, the time users spent on the platform, were 21.7 billion, up 30%. The filing said the rise in bookings was driven mainly by more daily unique paying users, about 1,220,000 against about 914,000 a year earlier.2021222324

Developer exchange fees, the amount earned by developers and creators registered in its Developer Exchange Program, were $281.56 million, up 39%. The filing said that growth outpaced bookings mainly because of differential Robux pricing, launched in November 2024, which gave users more Robux when they bought through channels with lower processing fees and so increased the Robux developers could earn. Roblox said it delayed a $30 million payout to a developer, which it then expected to pay in the second quarter of 2025, and that operating cash flow, $443.9 million in the quarter, benefited from the delay.2526272829

Adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP measure Roblox defines itself, was $57.96 million, against negative $6.9 million a year earlier; it leaves out interest, income taxes, depreciation and amortization, and stock-based compensation. Roblox said platform policy and safety changes made from the second half of 2024 into 2025 had affected, and might keep affecting, user engagement, revenue and bookings, particularly from younger users. In its earnings release, Roblox updated its full year 2025 guidance to revenue of $4,290 million to $4,365 million and bookings of $5,285 million to $5,360 million. Its annual report for 2025 later put revenue for the year at $4.89 billion.3031323334353637
