Alphabet filed its Form 10-Q, the quarterly report US-listed companies file with the SEC, on Apr 30, 2026, a day after announcing results for the quarter ended Mar 31, 2026. It reported revenue of $109.9 billion, up 22% from $90.23 billion a year earlier. Operating income rose 30% to $39.7 billion from $30.61 billion, and diluted earnings per share were $5.11 against $2.81.123456789101112

Google Cloud revenue was $20.03 billion, up 63% from $12.26 billion, and its operating income was $6.6 billion against $2.18 billion. The earnings release credited Google Cloud Platform growth across enterprise AI solutions, enterprise AI infrastructure and core services. Revenue backlog, which represents customer commitments not yet recognized as revenue, was $467.6 billion at the end of the quarter, of which $462.3 billion related to Google Cloud. Chief executive Sundar Pichai said in the release that backlog had nearly doubled from the previous quarter to over $460 billion; in the quarter Alphabet began counting contracts of a year or less, which made up about $7.3 billion of the total. Google Cloud had also signed a limited number of agreements to supply multiple gigawatts of Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) hardware to customers that require or provide on-premises infrastructure, and Alphabet said it expected to begin recognizing that revenue later in 2026, with the significant majority in 2027.13141516171819202122232425

Pichai said paid monthly active users of Gemini Enterprise grew 40% from the previous quarter, and that Alphabet's models, Gemini among them, were processing more than 16 billion tokens per minute through direct API use by customers, up 60% from the previous quarter. He called it the strongest quarter yet for the company's consumer AI plans, driven by the Gemini app, and said overall paid subscriptions had reached 350 million, with YouTube and Google One the key drivers.262728

Capital expenditures, primarily on technical infrastructure, were $35.7 billion in the quarter against $17.2 billion a year earlier, and the 10-Q said Alphabet expected to raise its infrastructure investment significantly in 2026 from 2025. Alphabet-level activities, which the filing says primarily reflect expenses for shared AI research and development, had an operating loss of $5.39 billion, against $3.03 billion a year earlier. In March 2026 Alphabet committed to a $40.0 billion investment in a private company: a $10.0 billion capital commitment and $30.0 billion of further funding contingent on specified operational and financial milestones through 2030, which the 10-Q says is accounted for as an equity derivative. The 10-Q said Alphabet expected to fund $10.0 billion in the second quarter of 2026, in the form of a non-marketable security.2930313233343536

Net income was $62.58 billion against $34.54 billion a year earlier. Other income, net was $37.7 billion, up from $11.2 billion, and included $36.9 billion of net gains on equity securities, primarily unrealized gains on non-marketable equity securities. The earnings release put the gain's effect at $28.7 billion on net income and $2.35 on diluted earnings per share, after $8.2 billion of added tax.3738394041
