Patch notes dated Jul 8, 2026 said Premier Season Five had begun, with Cache added to the Active Duty map pool and Overpass removed from it. The update also re-designed the effective range and extent of C4 explosion damage on all official defusal-mode maps, with shockwave damage expanding rapidly from the center of the explosion instead of being applied instantly. It also updated the engine code to the latest version of Source 2. The notes appeared in the Steam announcements of Counter-Strike 2.1^,2^,3^,4^,5^,6^,7^,8
